Customer Interviews

"For the cost, UserVue provides great flexibility in promoting the value of user testing to team members and stakeholders. It lets us get feedback to the design team - fast," said Tyson Stokes.

Stokes is a user experience test engineer at FamilySearch.org, through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in Salt Lake City.

Stokes, who is a Morae customer, also needed to be able to conduct usability tests remotely. He said, "Our site supports individuals throughout the world. Remote testing is a very economical way of reaching a representative audience."

This interview, along with the interview with Vandana Nayak, will be published in the June User Experience Newsletter.

Andrew MacNeil, ASKEL Solutions Andrew MacNeil, AKSEL Solutions

Canadian-based Andrew MacNeill is a software architect, trainer, and designer for AKSEL Solutions.

Since their reporting software is used by companies in various places, AKSEL uses UserVue for their remote user research needs. With UserVue, his company can watch users use their software, plus review and annotate the video results.

"UserVue makes usability testing straightforward and easy – there’s no excuse for not seeing how users use the software or a particular feature. So now, when you want to try out a new feature, you can see people using it and make intelligent design decisions based on what they're doing," MacNeill said.

Janna Cameron is a usability specialist at Desire2Learn, where they are using UserVue for usability evaluations. Since Desire2Learn creates products for people to use remotely, they wanted to see how users behaved in a less-controlled environment.

They use UserVue both as a stand alone service and as a complement to Morae.

“UserVue feels like it was designed for usability people,” she said. “This makes a big difference.”

David Teller, project leader at a usability testing services group, uses UserVue to perform tests on his company’s Web site.

Even though he'd used Morae to perform over 50 tests, he needed the remote usability abilities to perform this online test.

"Since I was testing 22 people, it would be unrealistic for me to travel to test all the clients. Remote usability testing offers convenience, speed, and cost savings that lab testing can't provide," he said.
